Fury said Joshua fight was "100% on" in 2021. Five years later, it is official

In 2021 Tyson Fury said an undisputed fight with Anthony Joshua was "100% on"; an arbitration ruling ordering a third Deontay Wilder fight ended it. Now it is confirmed for 11 December in Cardiff.

In May 2021 Tyson Fury said his undisputed heavyweight fight with Anthony Joshua was "100% on" for 14 August in Saudi Arabia, with each man reported to be in line for about $75 million, according to ESPN. Days later, on 17 May, an arbitrator ruled that Fury was contractually bound to fight Deontay Wilder a third time first. The Joshua fight was shelved, and Fury beat Wilder in Las Vegas that October.

Five years on, it is finally made. On 24 September the fight was confirmed for Friday 11 December at Cardiff's Principality Stadium, live on Netflix, the date and venue Dan Rafael first reported earlier this month.

Much has changed since 2021. Neither man now holds a heavyweight world title, Fury has announced his retirement more than once, and both are past 35. The fight that was once billed as the richest in British boxing has lost its belts but not its pull, and this time the date is in the diary.
