Luke Littler has backed Anthony Joshua to beat Tyson Fury when the two British heavyweights meet at Cardiff's Principality Stadium in December, even though he and Fury both support Manchester United.

The 19-year-old, a keen boxing fan, said he had been tipping Joshua to win for many years. Asked why he was not siding with Fury, Littler said he had always backed Joshua and could not go back on his word now.

Littler also questioned the choice of venue, after many fans had called for the fight to be held at Wembley Stadium. He said he had no idea why it was taking place in Wales, but added that at least everyone would get to see it.

The fight clashes with the start of the PDC World Darts Championship, which Littler has joked about before. It is tradition for the world champion to play on the opening night at Ally Pally, so he will already have been on the oche by the time Fury and Joshua start.

Fury is the bookmakers' favourite and is confident he will win. Joshua was ringside for Fury's points win over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April, and both men cleared their final hurdles in July, Fury beating Mariusz Wach and Joshua beating Kristian Prenga.

The rivalry goes back 16 years, to when the pair sparred at Joshua's Finchley ABC gym before either was known.
