Daniel Dubois expects Tyson Fury to beat Anthony Joshua, and wants to fight Fury himself if they both win their next fights.
"I think Fury," Dubois told Sky Sports News when asked for his pick for 11 December. "Everyone's been talking about this fight for such a long time. It'll be good to see them both get into the ring. Two legends of British boxing." Then he added: "Let's be real, I don't even care about that fight."
The WBO champion, who has already knocked out Joshua, said a fight with Fury would be on that scale. "What a fight that would be. It's like me and AJ all over again. That sort of magnitude. That's what boxing's about really," he said. "Frank [Warren, their promoter] would love it, he's got both of us. I've got to come through my next fight and anything's possible." His trainer Don Charles had already offered Dubois to Fury last week.
First, Dubois has a rematch with Fabio Wardley on 17 October. He got up from two early knockdowns to stop Wardley in their first fight, and says Wardley's team should have pulled him out sooner. "They were gambling with him. Obviously he's known for getting bashed up and coming back so that's what they must have been gambling on. But I'm a different animal and I just keep getting stronger as the rounds go on," he said.
This time he wants it over faster: "A bit quicker, a bit more clinical. I can't wait to get back in there again and stick it on him again." Dubois has said he will have an answer for any changes Wardley makes.
