Darren Till says not winning a UFC title is 'the thorn' he will carry for life

The Liverpool fighter, fresh from beating Yoel Romero at BKFC 94, says his manager does not want him to go back, but he would give the UFC "one last shot".

Darren Till says failing to win a UFC title will stay with him for life, and has not ruled out one last run at it.

"It's hard because I'll never take it out; it's in me for life. The thorn," Till said. "I tried, and I failed. It's the truth. I got there; I was the first person in Liverpool to bring the UFC to Liverpool and fight for a world title."

Till fought Tyron Woodley for the UFC welterweight title in 2018 and lost. He beat Yoel Romero on all three cards at BKFC 94 in Manchester on Saturday.

He wished the best to whoever wins a world title from Liverpool next, naming Paddy Pimblett. "Whoever's going to win the world title from Liverpool, whether it be Paddy or anyone else," he said. "You know, I'm one of them people. I want people to do well. But I'll never take that thorn out of me. I got there. I got to the pinnacle. I never won the world title. So what?"

A UFC return is not off the table. "If I go back, my manager doesn't want me to go back, but if I go back, yeah, I'll give it one last shot," Till said. "But I'm 33 now. I'm still young. I'm still fruitful. I haven't took no damage, you know?"

He is eyeing a grudge match with Mike Perry in bare-knuckle, and did not rule out other routes. "So, wherever this bare-knuckle goes, and after that, pro boxing or Misfits or back to wherever. Let's just see," he said.
