Raul Rosas Jr. says he hurt his hand in the second round against Raoni Barcelos

Rosas thinks the hand is fractured and says he hid the injury from Barcelos. He admits he thought he was losing going into the fifth round, before the knockout.

Raul Rosas Jr. thinks his left hand is fractured, and says he spent the last three rounds against Raoni Barcelos hiding the injury.

"I f***ed up my hand in the second round," Rosas said on The Ariel Helwani Show. "I was landing some nice f***ing left hands. And in the first round, I hurt it a little bit. Second round, I popped him again and I thought I had him this time... Bam! And I was like, f***, my hand was like done." He added: "Now I got to adjust... I didn't want to let him know that I didn't have one hand no more... It's all or nothing."

Asked whether the hand is broken, he said: "I think it's just fractured, to be honest. It's not broken, I don't think." He said he is not in a cast and is waiting for the swelling to go down.

Barcelos was ahead on all three judges' scorecards going into the fifth round, with one judge scoring the fourth 10-8 in his favour. Rosas won by knockout at 1:38 of the fifth. "I honestly thought I was losing the fight going into the fifth... I knew three and four was his round," he said. "The fourth round was just probably a 10-8... In the fifth I had to go for the finish." His corner (his dad, his two brothers and Chito) planned a takedown, knees and right hands for the final round, he said. Rosas said he met Marlon "Chito" Vera in Brazil, that Vera helped with his weight cut and his preparation for five rounds, and that they will keep training together.

"It's kind of funny when people are like, oh, you lost the fight," Rosas said. "If I went out there and was tired they would have been like, you were down f***ing three rounds, you should have went out there and left it all in the fifth... It's about finishing the fight."

Rosas said he had messaged Barcelos since the fight but had not heard back. "Probably he's staying off social media for a little bit... But I found out through the UFC that he's doing okay." He also spoke about the moments after the knockout, when he said he checked whether Barcelos was breathing.
