Conor Benn needs a break from boxing after Ryan Garcia defeat, says trainer Tony Sims
Sims said Benn has had four big fight camps in a row and that whether he boxes on is "totally up to him".

Conor Benn needs time away from the ring after four back-to-back fight camps, his trainer Tony Sims told Total Boxing with Tris Dixon, a month after Ryan Garcia stopped him in Las Vegas.
Garcia kept his WBC welterweight title against Benn at the T-Mobile Arena on 12 September, stopping him at 1:25 of the second round. It was Benn's first world title fight and the second defeat of his professional career, which now stands at 25 wins and two losses.
Sims said: "I think he's going to have a break. He's had four back-to-back camps. They was all big fights and he needs to have a rest from boxing, physically and mentally, he needs to have a bit of time away from it and then he needed to decide what he wants to do."
Benn has boxed four times since April 2025. He lost a points decision to Chris Eubank Jr at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April 2025 and beat him in the rematch at the same venue in November 2025, both at 160lb. He then outpointed Regis Prograis at a 150lb catchweight at Tottenham in April this year before dropping to 147lb to challenge Garcia.
Asked whether he was sure Benn would fight again, Sims said: "That's his decision; it's not my decision what he does next, it's totally up to him but he needs to have some time away from boxing for a while and gather his thoughts and what he does next."
He added: "He's messed around with his weight, going up two divisions and coming down two divisions so his body needs to come away from it to protect himself."
Sims told Ring Magazine after the fight that he expected Benn to box on, but that he first needed a rest: Tony Sims on Benn's future. Asked by Gunman Boxing what went wrong against Garcia, Benn himself said "I made a weight", then cut the interview short: Garcia defends Benn after the interview.
