Former WBA super-middleweight champion Armando Resendiz will face Koen Mazoudier at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on Saturday 17 October, after Jermall Charlo was hurt in training camp and withdrew.
It is the second time Charlo vs Mazoudier has fallen through. The pair were first due to meet in Australia in July, on the Errol Spence Jr vs Tim Tszyu card, but Charlo was refused a visa. The 10-round fight was then moved to Las Vegas, on the undercard of Sebastian Fundora's WBC super-welterweight title defence against Ermal Hadribeaj.
Charlo, 34-0 and a former WBC middleweight champion, said recently that this was his "last run at a world title" and that he would go for another belt at 168lb. In the same Fight Hub TV interview he called Caleb Plant "a quitter" for not making their fight happen.
Plant is also the man Resendiz beat to win his title. The Mexican, who is 16-3, took the WBA interim super-middleweight belt from Plant on a split decision in Las Vegas in May 2025 and was elevated to full champion on 1 January. He lost it to Jaime Munguia on a unanimous decision on 2 May, in his first defence. Mazoudier, an Australian who is 16-4-1, has campaigned at super-welterweight.
Brandon Figueroa's WBA featherweight title defence against Tomoki Kameda is also on the card. The main card starts at 1am UK time on Sunday 18 October, live on DAZN, a few hours after Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley 2 at The O2 in London.
