On this day in 2021: Marshall stops Muzeya to keep WBO title
Savannah Marshall needed less than two rounds at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, ending the scheduled 10-round contest after 1:58 of the second.

Savannah Marshall retained her WBO female middleweight title five years ago today, beating Lolita Muzeya by technical knockout in the second round at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle on 16 October 2021.
The fight was scheduled for 10 rounds and ended 1:58 into the second. The win kept the WBO belt in British hands and extended Marshall's reign as a world champion at middleweight.
Marshall, born on 19 May 1991, has held world championships in two weight classes. Alongside the WBO female middleweight title she defended that night in Newcastle, she has held the undisputed and Ring magazine female super-middleweight titles.
Her success in the professional ranks followed a landmark amateur career. Marshall became the first British female world champion when she won gold at the 2012 World Championships.
She has since added a second combat sport to her career and now competes as a professional mixed martial artist as well as a boxer.
