On this day in 2019: Conor Benn stops Steve Jamoye at The O2
The fourth-round stoppage of the Belgian veteran kept the WBA Continental (Europe) welterweight title with Nigel Benn's son on the Prograis-Taylor undercard.

Conor Benn retained his WBA Continental (Europe) welterweight title 7 years ago today, stopping Belgian veteran Steve Jamoye in the fourth round at The O2 Arena in London on 26 October 2019. The result kept the regional belt in his hands and made it two stoppage wins in a row.
The contest was scheduled for 10 rounds. It ended 2:18 into the fourth, with Benn awarded a technical knockout, the second consecutive win of that kind on his record.
Benn, then 23, fought Jamoye on the undercard of Regis Prograis vs. Josh Taylor, the main event at The O2 that night. The successful defence meant he left the ring with the same title he had brought into it.
Born on 28 September 1996, Benn is the son of Nigel Benn, the former two-division world champion, and he carried the family name into the professional ranks.
Seven years on from the win over Jamoye, Benn challenged for the WBC welterweight title in September 2026, the first world title fight of his career. The continental belt he defended at The O2 had been won and held in the same division.
