Tim Tszyu to challenge Erislandy Lara for WBA middleweight title in Australia
Lara, 43, will defend his title in Tszyu's home country later this year. The date and venue have not been announced.

Erislandy Lara will travel to Australia to defend his WBA middleweight title against Tim Tszyu later this year.
"As expected, Erislandy Lara will travel to Australia to defend the WBA middleweight title vs. Tim Tszyu later this year," Dan Rafael reported on 13 October. "Date and venue TBA but the fight is a done deal." Tszyu is promoted by No Limit Boxing, and the fight had been expected in December.
Lara, 43, is 32-3-3 with 19 knockouts. He won the WBA's "regular" middleweight belt in 2021 and was elevated to full champion in 2023.
Tszyu, 28-3 with 18 knockouts, is a former WBO super welterweight champion and would become a two-weight world champion with a win. He beat Errol Spence Jr on points in a middleweight fight in Sydney in July, his third win in a row.
"At 160 I feel strong, I feel sharp and I feel dangerous," Tszyu said. "Middleweight is my division now. Spence was just the appetiser."
