Conor McGregor is recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery with a 24/7 nurse by his side, according to his friend and training partner Dillon Danis. The Irishman's UFC comeback ended seconds into his fight with Max Holloway at UFC 329 with a knee injury.

Danis told MMA Fighting's Mike Heck that McGregor "was in a dark place" after the injury but is in a better state of mind now. "Now his head's a lot better," Danis said. "He has a 24/7 nurse with him. He's doing all the exercises. He's isolated himself in L.A. ... and he's focused on coming back." He added: "There's something about Conor that [when] he puts his mind towards something, he gets it done."

McGregor has one fight left on his UFC contract and has said he hopes to return as soon as International Fight Week in 2027, which is usually held in July. Nothing has been offered or booked.

The Holloway fight was McGregor's first in the UFC since 2021. Floyd Mayweather, who stopped McGregor in 2017, has since said he eyes a rematch with the Irishman.
