Floyd Mayweather has named Conor McGregor as a second former opponent he would like to fight again, alongside his long-planned rematch with Manny Pacquiao.

Speaking on the PBD Podcast, the 49-year-old said a boxing bout with McGregor would be a viable option for the Irishman next year. Mayweather stopped McGregor in the 10th round when they met in August 2017, which was his last professional fight.

McGregor returned to the UFC earlier this year for the first time since 2021, but his fight with Max Holloway was ended early by a knee injury. Mayweather suggested that an injury below the waist would not stop McGregor boxing. He said: “He didn’t break his hand, he broke his foot, right? Okay, well we going from the shoulders.” Mayweather has also confirmed he still intends to face Pacquiao again. Their rematch had been scheduled for September after Netflix announced the event, but it was cancelled because of Mayweather's legal issues. He is willing to put his 50-0 professional record on the line when he returns, despite what will by then be a decade out of the professional ring.

Before that, Mayweather has repeated his plan to box Mike Tyson in an exhibition before the end of this year as preparation for his professional comeback in 2027.

Pacquiao, who made his own comeback in July 2025, has been linked with a fight against two-time world champion Joe Cordina on the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua undercard in December.
