Shakur Stevenson has been released from his promotional contract with Zuffa Boxing and says he is now a free agent.
Stevenson had not fought under the promotion since signing with it in July.
"I'm not mad at anyone. I'm not pointing no fingers. But upon all of these issues and things that's been going on, I requested to be released from Zuffa Boxing," he said in a video. "Over the weekend, my request has been granted, and now I am officially a free agent."
He said he was starting his own promotional company and would work with other promoters "that's willing to be serious about my career as I am about my career."
Stevenson said he wants "the biggest and best fights at 135 pounds or 140 pounds where I hold my title," adding: "It doesn't matter the name. It doesn't matter who you put in front of me. None of these guys can beat me."
He also said he would move up to 147 in "maybe a year or two", but "on my time and not on nobody else's."
Last week, talks for a fight between Stevenson and Devin Haney fell apart, with each blaming the other: combatsportsuk.com/news/02d97c3f-8fa7-4136-b0b7-eaa5bedc8…
