Dana White doesn't know if Fury vs Joshua will happen, and tells Hearn to finance it himself
At the Zuffa Boxing 11 press conference in London, White said he is "involved in the f*cking fight" and called the situation "a whole sh*t show".
Dana White says he does not know whether Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua will go ahead. Asked at the Zuffa Boxing 11 press conference at the Copper Box Arena in London on Saturday night whether the fight will happen in December, he said: "That I don't know. That I don't know."
It was his first press conference since the reports on Friday that the fight is in doubt because Turki Alalshikh wants White as a promoter and Joshua's contract rules him out: Fury vs Joshua in doubt. Asked about his role, he said: "Have I not answered this question 257,000 times? Same as it was yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that."
He blamed Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter. "I don't know if I've ever known anybody who's more full of f*cking sh*t than Eddie Hearn," White said, and later: "This guy is full of f*cking sh*t." Asked whether he would step back if his involvement was all that stood in the way, he said: "That's not up to me. I'm involved in the f*cking fight."
On Hearn's point that Joshua's contract rules out any involvement from Zuffa, TKO or White, he asked: "Am I trying to sign Anthony Joshua? Have you seen anywhere anybody reporting that I've tried to sign Anthony Joshua?" And he had a challenge for Hearn: "If Eddie Hearn really cared about this f*cking fight, first of all, that fight would have happened f*cking a long time ago, number one. Number two, he could finance the thing himself. Finance the fight yourself. F*cking sell tickets, cut a TV deal and sell the fight. Listen, this thing's a whole sh*t show right now."
White also dismissed Max Kellerman's line on the evening's broadcast that he would be helping Turki on a personal level rather than as a promoter: "I don't know where that came from. That was weird."
The fight remains scheduled for Friday 11 December at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, and Hearn has said White and TKO "have been written to".
