Dana White on Fury vs Joshua: 'Who's going to stop me?' and a jab at a 'whiny little crybaby'

In a sit-down with Sky Sports on Friday, White said Netflix does not care what Eddie Hearn thinks, praised Frank Warren as a "complete stud" and said he is "on the Turki side" of the fight.

Dana White says nobody can keep him out of promoting Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua. "I'm sitting here promoting the fight right now," he told Sky Sports in a sit-down interview on Friday. "Who's going to stop me?"

He was answering Eddie Hearn, who has said since Thursday's announcement that White cannot be involved and that he would speak to Netflix about it. "You think Netflix give a s*** what Eddie Hearn thinks? I guarantee you they do not," White said. Hearn has also said that keeping the fight in the UK was a win for Joshua's side, and that White had lost. "What did I lose? What have I lost? I promise you I've lost nothing."

White said the talks had not been painful, in what appeared to be a dig at Hearn. "This is what we do. You figure out how to generate as much revenue as you possibly can for a fight, and this was no different other than one whiny little crybaby." He contrasted Hearn with Fury's promoter: "Frank Warren, complete stud, who gets it and has less than zero ego about this whole thing. He's a businessman." He said he was not working with either fighter's camp: "I am not involved in either side of this thing. I'm involved on the Turki side."

On Cardiff, White said the money decided it, with Turki Alalshikh funding the fight. "We ended up doing it in a stadium where we didn't have to worry about timing as much. You can close the roof and the fight with two British heavyweight champions stays in the UK."

The fight is now in doubt. Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix and The Ring's Mike Coppinger reported on Friday that it is at risk because Alalshikh wants White as a promoter and Joshua's contract rules him out: Fury vs Joshua in doubt. Our timeline of the White and Hearn row has every turn.

White also gave an update on Conor Benn's next move. "His next move is he's going to spend some time with his family and take some time off," he said. "When he's ready to come back, he lets us know and we'll get him back in there." And he was heading to Romford on Friday night to eat at the Blue Orchid Chinese restaurant with Big John Fisher, father of Johnny before Fisher's fight with Michael Pirotton at the Copper Box. "I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm going tonight."
