Tyson Fury says he removed the clause barring Dana White from the Joshua fight
Fury says his contract carried the same ban on TKO and Dana White as Anthony Joshua's until he took it out, and that White "drives Eddie Hearn out, feeds him to the fishes".
Tyson Fury says his contract for the Anthony Joshua fight carried the same clause as Joshua's, keeping Dana White and TKO out of the promotion, and that he had it taken out. "I took it out so he could be involved," Fury said on his Furocity channel, in comments reported by BoxingScene. "I want him involved, two baldies together."
That cuts across the row that has run all year. Eddie Hearn put clauses in Joshua's contract requiring the fight to be in the UK and ruling out any role for White and TKO, BoxingScene reported, and Frank Warren, Fury's UK promoter, had previously said Fury's contract said the same. Thursday's announcement named The Ring and White as the promoters anyway, and Hearn responded that White "cannot be involved with this fight" and that Netflix "clearly didn't get the memo", as we reported.
Fury had seen the announcement too. After "all of Eddie Hearn's bum-smacking", he said, White and The Ring were promoting the fight. "How f*cking mad is that?"
He was full of praise for the UFC boss, who stood alongside him at the White House earlier this year. "I like Dana, good businessman, and a good guy," Fury said, as reported by AOL. "I think he can do really well in boxing. I think he drives Eddie Hearn out, feeds him to the fishes."
Fury insisted there was nothing personal with Joshua's promoter. "I haven't got no problem with Eddie, never have done," he said, and promised that whatever happens in Cardiff, he will take Hearn and his pal out for "a few Guinnesses" afterwards.
Fury and Joshua meet on Friday 11 December at the Principality Stadium, live on Netflix, with Hearn expecting the main event at around 1am on Saturday 12 December, UK time.
