Dustin Poirier on Max Holloway: 'I'm still up. I beat him twice'

Dustin Poirier has answered a fan who called him bitter about his last fight against Max Holloway, by pointing to who leads their series.
On the UFC's Deep Waters show, a message was read out that said: "Dustin is salty about losing to Max, so he has to try to make a narrative to make Max look good." Poirier replied: "I'm still up. I beat him twice. He beat me once."
He has the record on his side. Poirier submitted Holloway in the first round at UFC 143 in 2012, in Holloway's UFC debut, and beat him on a unanimous decision for the interim lightweight title at UFC 236 in 2019. Holloway won the third fight on a unanimous decision at UFC 318 in July 2025, Poirier's retirement bout, to keep the BMF belt.
The exchange came during the panel's pound-for-pound rankings. Poirier's list, shown on screen, had Islam Makhachev first, Alexander Volkanovski second, Holloway third, Justin Gaethje fourth, Ilia Topuria fifth and Charles Oliveira sixth.
