Josh Hokit hits back at Alexander Volkov: 'Nobody cares about you'

Volkov had called Hokit's title shot a story of a man with a mental illness. Hokit said doctors prescribe Volkov fights to insomniacs, and that deep down he is Dana White's favourite.

Josh Hokit has answered Alexander Volkov, who last week called Hokit's title shot an inspiring story of "the guy with a mental illness": Volkov on Gane and Hokit.

Asked about it on The Ariel Helwani Show on Monday, Hokit said: "These sleep doctors, they be prescribing f*cking Volkov's fights to people that struggle to sleep. You put one of those motherf*ckers on, sh*t, you're snoring immediately... He has one finish in the last five... I think this will be his 20th fight in the UFC coming up. God damn... no one cares. You've been in the game for so long. Nobody cares about you. You already had your chance. Get out of here, gang."

"Once I get the title... I'll give anybody a fight... that motherf*cker lost to Derrick Lewis... he lost to Curtis Blaydes... He's boring as f*ck," Hokit said, adding that the interview with Helwani was "the most exciting thing he's done in 20 years... So kudos to you, Ariel."

Helwani put it to him that Dana White had seemed to dread the idea of Hokit as champion. "Dana is just, you know, he has to say that. Deep down, I'm Dana's favorite fighter... He can't wait for my fights," Hokit said. "I didn't join this sport to be liked by anybody... the whole world could be against me... you call my name, you have me sign the contract, I'm going to give you a good fight."

Hokit challenges Ciryl Gane for the undisputed heavyweight title at UFC 334 at Madison Square Garden on 14 November. In the same interview he called Tom Aspinall's eye injury fake: Hokit on Aspinall and Gane.
