On this day in 1988: Duke McKenzie wins IBF flyweight title at Wembley
Rolando Bohol was stopped 2:25 into the 11th round, the first of three world titles McKenzie would win at different weights.

Duke McKenzie became a world champion 38 years ago today, stopping Rolando Bohol in the 11th round at Wembley Conference Centre in London on 5 October 1988 to win the International Boxing Federation flyweight title.
The fight was scheduled for 12 rounds and ended 2:25 into the 11th. The title came at a price: McKenzie gave up the British and European flyweight belts that had carried him to world level. He had held the British title since 1985 and the European title since 1986.
The win in London was the first of three world titles at different weights. McKenzie held the IBF flyweight belt until 1989, then moved up to win the World Boxing Organization bantamweight title, which he held from 1991 to 1992. He added the WBO junior-featherweight title in 1992 and kept it until 1993, making him a three-weight world champion.
He returned to domestic level later in his career and won the British featherweight title, which he held from 1993 to 1994. McKenzie boxed professionally from 1982 to 1998 and has since worked as a boxing commentator for ITV.
