Gustavo Sousa submits Paddy McCorry in 62 seconds to take Cage Warriors title in Dublin

Sousa choked out the home champion 1:02 into the first round at the RDS, on what Cage Warriors called a night of upsets at Cage Warriors 210.

Gustavo Sousa is the new Cage Warriors middleweight champion. He submitted Paddy McCorry with a brabo choke, the hold also known as a d'arce, 1:02 into the first round of their title fight at the RDS in Dublin on Saturday night, according to Sherdog's results, which record it as a technical submission.

It was McCorry's first defence of the belt he won at the same venue at Cage Warriors 200, as set out in our Cage Warriors 210 UK start time guide. The pair went in at 7-2 for Sousa and 8-1 for McCorry, on Sherdog's records.

"In a night of upsets, he might have topped them all," Cage Warriors posted after the title fight. Alex Keogh was knocked out in 39 seconds by Cristiano Oliveira in the opening fight, and on the main card Ger Harris was submitted by Anderson Souza Soares and Solomon Simon lost a decision to Kenny Mokhonoana.

Home fighters had their wins too. Max Lally stopped Joao Pedro Saldanha in the first round of the co-main event, Conor McCarthy stopped Dumitru Girlean in the second, and Keith Keogh submitted Jhonatan Cordeiro with a rear-naked choke.
