Alexander Volkanovski has called for a super fight with Justin Gaethje, with the lightweight title on the line, nine days before he defends his own featherweight belt.

The featherweight champion was asked on the YouTube show "Who The Fook Are These Guys?" whether a move back up to lightweight against Gaethje could be his send-off. "Let's do a super fight. You know, lightweight title on the line," Volkanovski said. "And then we can both see, you know, we can see everyone off with a crazy super fight."

Talking about Gaethje's plans, he said: "He's sitting there, goes, ah, what's the point of doing rematches and all that? It's like, oh, let's do a super fight. Let's do it. And then straight after that, let the division sort themselves out."

Volkanovski, 38, first has to get past the unbeaten Movsar Evloev, who challenges him for the featherweight title at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday 24 October. UK start times are on our UFC 333 page.

Gaethje, 37, won the lightweight title from Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250. He has said he will not fight again this year and is weighing retirement before deciding on a defence against Arman Tsarukyan.
