A week after earning a UFC contract on Dana White's Contender Series, Sal Everett was back at work as White's runner.

"I'm back to work, back to the normal schedule," Everett told The Ariel Helwani Show from UFC headquarters on 13 October.

Everett, 29, knocked out Ozzy Martin in 1:57 of the first round of their welterweight fight at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas on 6 October, improving to 5-0. "Everybody at the UFC loves you, you're a great kid," White told him afterwards.

He joined the UFC through security work. "Right place, right time. I started off with the third-party security team with Rex Group, worked the Jon Jones-Ciryl Gane fight," he said. "I started as Dana's runner in July. I started in July 2023, but I started in April 2023 with the security team."

As for the job: "Just basic errands and stuff. I do most of the errands around the office for like the executives upstairs, but just basic stuff that Dana needs that he can't get to."

He said he took fighting "really serious" once he got White's attention. He is taking some time off to get healthy, with a swollen hand that may be broken: "Ozzy punch hard, that kid was tough."
