Patchy Mix has reportedly been released by RIZIN after losing both of his fights since signing with the Japanese promotion.

BJPenn.com reported that, according to MMA publication Dropkick, RIZIN removed Mix from its roster and eliminated his contract. The outlet said it is uncertain whether the 33-year-old will re-sign on a new deal or explore free agency.

Mix came in more than six pounds over the bantamweight limit for his most recent fight, at RIZIN 54 in Tokyo on August 11. He was docked two points before the opening bell and lost a unanimous decision to Shoko Sato. He said on X that he "got sick towards the end of my weight cut".

That followed a second-round stoppage by Kyoma Akimoto at RIZIN 52 in March, finished by punches and soccer kicks, in his first fight after the UFC released him in January. His UFC run ended 0-2, with a unanimous decision loss to Mario Bautista at UFC 316 and a split decision loss to Jakub Wiklacz at UFC 320.

Mix has now lost all four of his fights since leaving Bellator, where he beat Sergio Pettis, Raufeon Stots and Kyoji Horiguchi. He also submitted Ireland's James Gallagher with a third-round guillotine at Bellator 270 in Dublin in November 2021.
