Fury vs Joshua 'back on track', Helwani says, with the press conference set for Wednesday
Ariel Helwani says everyone is "in a good place" after 48 hours of talks. The two meet at Olympia at 6pm on Wednesday, and Dana White will not be there, Dan Rafael reported.
The row over Dana White's role that put Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua in doubt appears to be settled, and the two are due to meet at a press conference in London on Wednesday ahead of the fight in Cardiff on 11 December.
"The Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight is back on track, I'm told," Ariel Helwani wrote on X on Tuesday. "After a 48-hour negotiating period, it appears as though everyone is in a good place and ready to proceed. Dec. 11. Cardiff. Netflix. Presser still slated for tomorrow, barring any last-minute hiccups."
The press conference is at 6pm on Wednesday 30 September at the British Airways Arc at Olympia in London, streamed live on the Netflix Sports YouTube channel. Joshua is reported to be travelling from Dubai for it.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, posted a photo of himself with Joshua on X on Tuesday morning with the caption: "Chapter 35. Chat s*** get banged. Dec 11."
Fury's manager told Sky Sports that Fury had enrolled in pre-fight drug testing six days earlier than required, after Hearn raised questions about it.
Dana White will not attend the press conference, Dan Rafael reported. White's role had been at the centre of the row: Turki Alalshikh, who is funding the fight, wanted White involved as a promoter, Joshua's contract ruled that out, and Hearn said White could not be involved. Last week Fury put the chances of the fight at one per cent, and on Monday Helwani reported that Netflix was trying to save it.
