Brendan Allen says staph infection hurt his performance in Christian Leroy Duncan win
Allen, who submitted Duncan in the fifth round of the UFC Vegas 122 main event, said his main worry at the time was whether he would still make weight.

Brendan Allen has said a staph infection he dealt with before his UFC Vegas 122 main event against Christian Leroy Duncan affected his performance, even though he won.
Allen told MMA Fighting how it developed: "I was in Vegas on Friday the week before and I didn't feel it. I didn't start feeling anything till maybe Sunday... I couldn't really sleep too great Sunday night. Monday I didn't sleep at all. So Tuesday I went to the doctor and they cut it and took all the stuff, gave me antibiotics and yeah it was... it was not fun."
His main concern at the time was the scale. "The one thing that I was worried about in the moment was if I would still make weight," he said.
Allen said the infection did affect him. "Looking back in hindsight being 20/20, it definitely affected like the overall performance," he said. "I won... we got the job done."
Allen beat Duncan with a fifth-round rear-naked choke in the middleweight main event at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas on 10 October.
