Derek Chisora has told anyone thinking of taking their own life to message him directly, offering to meet them in person and spend time with them at the farm.

"If you've got those thoughts, yeah, of like you want to take your life, mate, DM me, bro, and I will meet up with you. Come to the farm, we walk around, we hang out, you know, I'll tell you some stupid jokes, you know. DM me, I don't mind, you understand?" Chisora told iFL TV.

Asked in the same interview whether suicide had ever gone through his mind, Chisora said it had, that he thinks every man goes through it at some point, and that he decided life was too beautiful. He said the risk grows when a fighter goes home alone after losing, with no partner there and family living far away.

Asked who he turns to with a mental health problem, Chisora said his mother. He said he has lost two friends who did not want to talk about their problems because they thought the world would laugh at them, and that sharing a problem with about three people gives you options for dismantling it.

Chisora also said he finds it selfish when people with children take their own lives, because of what it leaves on their families. The interviewer countered that people in that position are not thinking about that. Chisora said he would rather people messaged him, and spent their time walking down the aisle with their kids.

Chisora, 42, lost a split decision to Deontay Wilder at The O2 in London on 4 April, in what was billed as his 50th and final fight.
