Shane Fury Jr, the nephew of Tyson Fury, is a European champion after winning 70kg gold for England at the Under-15 European Championships in Trabzon, Turkey.

Fury Jr received a bye into the quarter-finals, where he beat Ukraine's Bohdan Moroz by split decision. A unanimous decision over Moldova's Dan Florea took him into the final, and he won gold with another split decision, against Azerbaijan's Sarkhan Hakverdiyev.

Tyson Fury said his nephew had won the title at his first international tournament. He called him dedicated and completely focused on boxing, and added: “Wait until you get to see Shane Fury Jr and wait until you are introduced to the real Shane Fury Jr over the years. Next gen - let's go!” John Fury, Shane's grandfather, said he was proud of him and praised the way he dug in to beat a good, awkward southpaw.

Relatives of two other British boxing families also won medals. Solomon Dubois, the younger brother of Daniel and Caroline Dubois, took silver at 60kg. He won his first two bouts by unanimous decision and beat Azerbaijan's Sunay Azimov 4-1 to reach the final, where he lost by the same margin to Russia's Mikhail Novikov.

Lola Hatton, the daughter of Matthew Hatton and niece of former world champion Ricky Hatton, won bronze at 60kg after losing her semi-final to Russia's Kristina Okhlopkova by split decision.
