Derek Chisora names Hrgovic as toughest test for Daniel Dubois after Wardley win

Derek Chisora believes a rematch with Filip Hrgovic would be the hardest fight available to Daniel Dubois, after his fellow British heavyweight stopped Fabio Wardley in the second round of their rematch at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday.

That contest is unlikely to come next. Dubois is expected to return to action in February 2027, while Hrgovic is pencilled in for a title defence on home soil in Croatia against Cuba's Frank Sanchez.

Speaking to Jack Figg, Chisora said: “Right now, I don’t see anybody [beating Daniel Dubois]. Maybe somebody who might give him some trouble would be Hrgovic, but right now nobody can beat him.” Wardley's trainer, Ben Davison, threw in the towel during the second round. The Ipswich fighter had taken heavy punishment over a longer fight when the pair first met five months earlier.

Chisora said he believes Wardley did not train enough for the rematch, but praised what he has achieved since starting out in white-collar boxing. He said: “He beat Joseph Parker, he has travelled to Riyadh, he became a big star in London, now he works on DAZN.” Chisora added of Wardley's career: “Boxing is done for him.”
