Gervonta Davis rules out Naoya Inoue fight: 'It's weight class for a reason'
Davis said he would fight on the same card as Inoue but not against him. Inoue fights at 122lb, while Davis has boxed at 135lb and 140lb.
Gervonta Davis has ruled out fighting Naoya Inoue, but says he would happily share a card with him.
Replying to a fan on social media who asked him to take on the Japanese star, Davis wrote: "I'll fight on the card w him but not him... It's weight class for a reason bro..let him be great."
Inoue, the undisputed super bantamweight champion, fights at 122lb. Davis has boxed at lightweight and super lightweight, 135lb and 140lb.
Ryan Garcia has said Davis's team reached out to him about a rematch, and that his answer was "147 or nothing": Garcia's 147lb condition for a Davis rematch. Inoue's brother Takuma kept his WBC bantamweight title on Sunday: Takuma Inoue beats Tenshin Nasukawa again.
