Johnny Fisher calls for Deontay Wilder fight after American’s win over Derek Chisora

Johnny Fisher has told Sky Sports he wants to face Deontay Wilder. The British heavyweight welcomed the prospect of sharing the ring with the former WBC champion.

Johnny Fisher has called for a fight with Deontay Wilder following the American’s April win over Derek Chisora, Boxing News reports.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Fisher praised Wilder’s trilogy with Tyson Fury and said it would be an honour to face a fighter of his standing. His admiration came with a clear statement of intent.

Fisher said: “But, make no bones about it. I would be going in there to take him out!”

Fisher’s next assignment is against Belgium’s Michael Pirotton on Saturday. He will make his Zuffa Boxing debut as the headline fighter at the Copper Box Arena, on the promotion’s first event in London.

Wilder beat Chisora by split decision on his return to England after 13 years away. His previous UK appearance came in 2013, when he stopped Audley Harrison in the opening round at Sheffield Arena on a bill headlined by Amir Khan.
