On this day in 2011: Kell Brook stops Rafał Jackiewicz in Sheffield
The sixth-round stoppage at Ponds Forge kept the WBA Inter-Continental welterweight title with Brook.

Kell Brook retained his WBA Inter-Continental welterweight title 15 years ago today, beating Rafał Jackiewicz by technical knockout in the sixth round at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, on 8 October 2011. The fight ended 2:36 into the sixth of a scheduled 12 rounds.
The win kept a regional belt in Brook's hands as he made his way at welterweight. He had already held the British welterweight title from 2008 to 2010, and the stoppage of Jackiewicz added to his list of regional successes at 147lb.
World honours followed. Brook won the International Boxing Federation welterweight title in 2014 and held it until 2017. In 2016 he moved up to challenge for a unified middleweight world title, his only attempt at that weight, and in May 2017 The Ring magazine ranked him the world's best active welterweight.
Born on 3 May 1986, Brook boxed professionally from 2004 to 2022.
