Dalton Smith says his "number one goal is to sell out Hillsborough" after keeping his WBC super-lightweight title against Alberto Puello in Sheffield on Saturday night.

Speaking at the post-fight press conference, the unbeaten champion said: "There's plenty of names. And like you said, I've had no easy fights. I've fought everyone who I've needed to fight. But for me, my number one goal is to sell out Hillsborough. You know, my dream is walk out, have the Arctic Monkeys playing live. If we can make that happen and have a big fight at Hillsborough. But right now, I'm going to, obviously, enjoy for a couple of weeks this victory."

Eddie Hearn said at the same press conference that the owners of Sheffield Wednesday, whose home ground is Hillsborough, were at the Utilita Arena on Saturday. "They want to stage a Dalton Smith fight next year. So for me, that's a unification fight, undoubtedly," Hearn said.

Hearn said that as Smith's promoter he would probably look at other names in the division, including Gary Russell, before a fight with Shakur Stevenson, adding: "I think we can do Hillsborough with any unification." He pointed to Kell Brook's 2017 fight with Errol Spence at Bramall Lane, saying: "We sold, what, 28,000 at Bramall Lane, it was unbelievable, and we do the same at Hillsborough."

No date or opponent has been set for a stadium fight. Matchroom's Frank Smith said at Friday's weigh-in that Smith wanted the Hillsborough fight next.

Smith, now 20-0, won a split decision over Puello in his first defence of the belt.
