Ian Machado Garry's first fight since Makhachev loss: Yaroslav Amosov, five rounds in Riyadh
The Irishman, ranked No 1 at welterweight by the UFC, takes on the former Bellator champion in the co-main event of UFC Saudi Arabia on 5 December.

Ian Machado Garry will face former Bellator welterweight champion Yaroslav Amosov in a five-round co-main event at UFC Saudi Arabia in Riyadh on Saturday 5 December. The UFC announced the fight during its Fight Night broadcast in the early hours of Sunday, UK time, on a card headed by Israel Adesanya against Shara Magomedov.
It will be Machado Garry's first fight since he lost a unanimous decision to Islam Makhachev in his title fight at UFC 330 in August. That defeat came after back-to-back wins over Carlos Prates and Belal Muhammad. The Irishman is 17-2 and still ranked No 1 at welterweight by the UFC.
Amosov, a Ukrainian military veteran, is ranked No 11 and has won both of his UFC fights, against Neil Magny and Joel Alvarez, since signing in 2025. He won the Bellator welterweight title during an 8-1 run with the promotion, a spell in which he also fought for his country against Russia. His only career defeat came against Jason Jackson in a Bellator title fight in November 2023.
Machado Garry is the taller man at 6ft 3in to Amosov's 6ft 0in, but Amosov has the longer reach, 75 inches to 74.5.
