Luis Hernandez won his UFC debut on two days' notice, submitting Sedriques Dumas with a standing guillotine choke 57 seconds into the first round at UFC Vegas 121 in Las Vegas early on Sunday UK time, MMA Fighting's results show.
Hernandez, a Miami-Dade sheriff's deputy, only got the fight on Thursday when Mickey Gall withdrew, and the bout moved up to light heavyweight when he stepped in. He weighed in at 204lb on Friday, seven pounds heavier than Dumas. Our weigh-in report has the background to the late switch.
The win takes Hernandez to 9-0, and he has now finished every opponent he has faced as a professional. He earned his UFC contract on Dana White's Contender Series on 15 September, which means he fought twice in less than a fortnight.
For Dumas, a former Contender Series winner, the defeat extends his winless run to five fights, including a no contest.
