Ariel Helwani says Paramount+ cut Dana White's Cardiff answer from the live feed
Helwani said the broadcast went to a break as White said he did not negotiate the Cardiff deal, and that Netflix is now trying to mediate the Fury vs Joshua row.
Ariel Helwani says the live Paramount+ feed of Saturday's Zuffa Boxing 11 press conference cut away just as Dana White was asked who did the deal that took Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua to Cardiff.
White's answer was that he did not negotiate it: "Did I call and negotiate the deal?... No, I did not." Asked who did, he said: "Does it matter? Who gives a sh*t?" White did not negotiate the Cardiff deal.
"At that point, they cut. Molly Qerim comes on right there. 'We'll be back right after this.' And I'm watching it on the feed on Paramount Plus," Helwani said on The Ariel Helwani Show on Monday. "It's clearly not over. Why are they cutting?" He said he found the missing section on another feed: "The portion that they took out from the live feed was this exact question... They took this part out... they cut to a break, and for whatever reason, didn't want this part to air... And then they went back when the coast was clear and the thing wrapped up like 45 seconds later."
Helwani set it against what White said in Bournemouth on 6 June: "I did the deal... watch what happens over the next 30 days." He also said: "Do you think that I would publicly lie and then look like a f*cking idiot in front of everybody?"
Helwani also said the broadcaster of the fight is now involved in trying to save it. "Based on the conversations that I heard were transpiring since Saturday, I know for a fact that Netflix is trying to mediate. Netflix wants to make this happen," he said.
