Ricky Hatton's family are still waiting to learn when the former world champion's estate will be distributed more than a year after his death, the Mirror reported, with his eldest son, Campbell, saying his phone calls to the trustees have been blocked.

Hatton's estate is held within the Dorothy Hatton Discretionary Trust, named after his grandmother and controlled by his former secretary, Catherine Lomas, and his former legal adviser, Paul Dodds. Campbell, a 25-year-old former boxer, said the trust had referred his correspondence to the law firm Muckle, and he has enlisted his own solicitor. No wrongdoing is suggested on the part of Lomas or Dodds, and it is not uncommon for larger estates to take 12 months or more to be dispersed.

As far as Campbell and Hatton's parents understand, Hatton did not leave a will. Campbell has been trying to find out when the estate will be shared between him and his two half-sisters. He told the Daily Mail: “I’ve asked the questions and I can’t see why I’m not getting the information.” Hatton's mother, Carol, said the lack of transparency shown to her grandson had come close to being inhumane. Hatton's father, Ray, said: “Campbell isn’t grabbing at money, he’s not saying, ‘Give me and my sisters £5m each’. He just wants to know what is going on and these people are telling him nothing.” Ray said he and Carol wanted nothing from the estate, other than possibly Hatton's MBE for Carol, and that the money was for Hatton's children. He added that his son was well set financially when Ray came off his trust in 2011.

Hatton was reported to be worth around £40million, although his parents have questioned whether that overestimates what he left. Ray said: “When I read about a £40m estate, that sounded about right for what it should have been by now. But I’ve heard from people around Richard that by the time he passed he had bridging loans on properties.” He questioned why his son, who did not live an expensive life, would need a bridging loan, and said the longer the matter went on with the trustees, the more the family wanted a proper idea of what had been happening.

Hatton, who won world titles in two divisions, was found dead at his home on 14 September 2025. He retired in 2012, returned for an exhibition a decade later and was preparing for a comeback bout against Eisa Al Dah in Dubai at the time of his death.
