Yoel Romero, beaten by Paulo Costa in a UFC 241 war, meets Darren Till at BKFC 94

Yoel Romero lost a bloody, disputed decision to Paulo Costa at UFC 241 in 2019. At 49, he headlines BKFC 94 against Liverpool's Darren Till in Manchester on Saturday.

Paulo Costa and Yoel Romero left the Honda Center in Anaheim covered in blood on 17 August 2019, having traded heavily for three rounds in a fight that earned both men Fight of the Night bonuses, ESPN reported. All three judges scored the UFC 241 fight 29-28 for Costa, but a crowd that had been behind Romero all night booed the decision, and fans have argued over it ever since.

Romero, then 42 and already a two-time UFC title challenger, never got the rematch. He is now 49 and fighting without gloves. On Saturday he headlines BKFC 94 at the AO Arena in Manchester against Darren Till, the Liverpool fighter who stopped Aaron Chalmers on his own BKFC debut. Both men are 1-0 in the promotion, and they meet at cruiserweight. The card starts at 7pm UK time on DAZN pay-per-view.

Romero has spent years insisting he did enough to beat Costa. Manchester will not settle that argument, but a win over Till, more than a decade younger, would show the former Olympic silver medallist still carries the power that made him one of the most feared middleweights of his era.
