Israel Adesanya admits his Yoel Romero fight was 'one of the most boring' in UFC history
Adesanya said neither man wanted to take risks against the other, and gave Romero credit: "It was a boring fight but he's a dangerous man."

Israel Adesanya says his title defence against Yoel Romero was one of the dullest fights the UFC has staged, and that both of them knew why.
"I had one of the most exciting fights in the history of the planet that's inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, but also I had one of the most boring fights in the history of the company alongside Yoel Romero, and we're both dangerous men," Adesanya said in a video on his own channels. "It was a boring fight but he's a dangerous man. There's a reason he didn't want to come close, and there's a reason I didn't want to risk it again and get hit by that zinger. So yeah, shout out to him."
Adesanya beat Romero on points to keep the UFC middleweight title in the main event of UFC 248 in Las Vegas in March 2020. The fight he was referring to as a Hall of Famer is his interim title win over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 236 in 2019, which was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2025.
