Twelve years since Conor McGregor stopped Dustin Poirier, the first of their three fights
McGregor won their featherweight fight in 106 seconds at UFC 178 in 2014. Poirier won both of their lightweight rematches in 2021 and leads the series 2-1.
Twelve years ago on Sunday, on 27 September 2014, Dublin's Conor McGregor stopped Dustin Poirier in the first round at UFC 178. It was the first of three fights between them, and the only one McGregor won.
The featherweight bout ended with a technical knockout at 1:46 of the first round, and it earned McGregor a Performance of the Night bonus.
Six years later they met again, this time at lightweight. At UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi on 24 January 2021, Poirier stopped McGregor in the second round, the first knockout defeat of McGregor's mixed martial arts career.
The trilogy followed at UFC 264 in Las Vegas on 10 July 2021. It ended in the first round when McGregor broke his lower leg and the ringside doctor stopped the fight, giving Poirier a 2-1 lead in the series.
