Canelo Alvarez trains at Oleksandr Usyk's gym in Valencia for Christian Mbilli fight
Alvarez, who lost his titles to Terence Crawford in 2025, challenges unbeaten WBC champion Mbilli in Riyadh on 31 October and wants a fight-of-the-year contender.

Canelo Alvarez is training at Oleksandr Usyk's gym in Valencia, Spain, for his 31 October fight with Christian Mbilli.
Alvarez expects - and wants - a fight-of-the-year contender in Riyadh, where he will try to win back the WBC super middleweight title, according to Mike Coppinger, who visited the gym on Friday and photographed him shadowboxing in a ring with an Usyk corner pad.
Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) has not fought since Terence Crawford beat him by unanimous decision in Las Vegas on 13 September 2025 and took his super middleweight titles. Crawford retired in December, and Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KOs) was elevated to full WBC champion, so Alvarez goes in as the challenger.
The fight was first set for 12 September. Alvarez said a family matter had affected the timing of his training camp, and it moved to 31 October. It is live on DAZN.
