Adlan Amagov, the former UFC fighter who Jon Jones says knocked him out in sparring, has signed with the grappling promotion ACBJJ and is expected to make his debut at an upcoming event, Bloody Elbow reported, citing Red Corner MMA. Amagov, 40, has not competed since 2016. No date or opponent has been named, and Bloody Elbow said it is unclear why he has decided to return or how much he has been training.

A sparring session in Albuquerque put him back in the news in 2025. Carlos Condit, the former interim UFC welterweight champion, made the story public, saying Amagov was "like a spinning back kick guy" and that "he hit Jon Jones with that spinning back kick... He dropped him."

Jones confirmed it in a video in 2025. "Adlan Amagov KO'd me. Very true story," he said. "Spinning back kick." He added: "It's okay, it's okay, it's okay. Sometimes it happens." Asked about Condit, Jones said Amagov got to both of them on the same day: "Carlos Condit, me, Carlos, one day. Adlan, 2 people."

Amagov has been less keen to talk about it. "I'm not comfortable talking about things that happen in sparring," he said on a Russian podcast. "I've never told anybody about it. But when he mentioned it in an interview here in Moscow, they all started calling me and asking about it. Well, it happened in sparring." The pair met again at a bare-knuckle show in Russia in July 2025, when Jones laughed off a few seconds of play sparring in the ring by signalling to the crowd that the score was now 2-0 to Amagov.

Amagov won 14 professional MMA fights, eight by knockout, and stopped Anthony Smith in Strikeforce before losing to Robbie Lawler. He beat Chris Spang on the scorecards and knocked out TJ Waldburger in the UFC, then did not fight again until a submission win in Russia in 2016. He reportedly stepped away at 27 to focus on his family and avoid weight cuts, with injury also cited.

ACBJJ stages Brazilian jiu-jitsu matches as well as hybrid battle matches. Edson Barboza, 40, is another UFC name on its cards: he faces Rashid Magomedov in a battle match at ACBJJ 23 in Rio de Janeiro on 13 November, three months after retiring from MMA.
