UFC 331 results: Joshua Van beats Alexandre Pantoja by unanimous decision

Joshua Van defeated Alexandre Pantoja on points in Los Angeles, while Arman Tsarukyan stopped Mauricio Ruffy in the co-main event. Scotland’s Casey O’Neill secured a first-round submission win.

Joshua Van beat Alexandre Pantoja by unanimous decision in the flyweight main event of UFC 331: Van vs. Pantoja 2. The card took place at crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Saturday 19 September (UK and Irish time).

The lightweight co-main event ended in the opening round, with Arman Tsarukyan defeating Mauricio Ruffy by stoppage at 4:56. Tsarukyan’s victory was one of seven finishes across the evening’s 12 completed bouts.

Scotland’s Casey O’Neill supplied a first-round finish of her own in the women’s flyweight division. The fighter from Irvine submitted Brazil’s Eduarda Moura at 3:22 of the opening round.

At heavyweight, Sean Sharaf needed just 12 seconds to stop Gable Steveson. Patricio Pitbull also won inside the first round, stopping South Korea’s Dooho Choi at 3:28 in their featherweight contest.

Joanderson Brito and Ryan Gandra also won in the opening round. Brito defeated Giga Chikadze at 1:57 at featherweight, while Gandra stopped Los Angeles middleweight Ozzy Diaz at 2:04.

Marlon Vera’s bantamweight victory came in the third round, with the Ecuadorian stopping Charles Jourdain at 2:02. Elsewhere, Los Angeles fighters Alonzo Menifield and Edmen Shahbazyan won on the scorecards: Menifield took a split decision against Iwo Baraniewski at light heavyweight, while Shahbazyan earned a unanimous decision over Brunno Ferreira at middleweight.
