Bo Nickal says Joe Pyfer may be creating a narrative to get himself motivated for their fight, which was moved from December to a February main event in Cleveland.

Pyfer has framed the bout as poor kid versus rich kid, and said on his Instagram story that he would take Nickal's "fake dreams" away. Asked what Pyfer meant, Nickal told The Ariel Helwani Show: "I have no idea." He added: "I'm not really a big dreamer. I think that I set my mind to something and I do it."

"I have talked to Joe quite a few times. We were able to sit by each other at the Hamzat Strickland fight. And so, you know, I've got some respect for the guy," Nickal said. "And I think that he's a tough fighter. He brings a lot to the table. And he's got a great story. And we're going to have a great fight. So, you know, I don't know really what I've said that's really upset him too much. But I think maybe he's got to create a narrative in his head of maybe to get motivated to fight."

On the poor kid versus rich kid line, he said: "He can view it however he wants, I guess."

Nickal also explained why the fight is not happening in December. "Every fighter has had injuries. This is something I've been dealing with since, you know, January, February," he said. "Now I feel like I'm at a point where I needed to just take some time to stop something from getting even worse than what it already is." He said he was excited that the fight is now a five-round main event.
