Unified Rules of MMA change proposed by Ki MMA, soccer kicks and stomps ruled out
Ki MMA wants to bring parts of the Global MMA Rules into the Unified Rules of MMA, but has ruled out soccer kicks, stomps and linear knee strikes.

Ki MMA has put forward a proposal that would create a variation of the Unified Rules of MMA. The organisation said it wants to “bring elements of the Global MMA Rules into the Unified Rules”.
The statement does not name the strike involved, but MMA Junkie reported that it concerns knees to the head of a grounded opponent. ONE Championship already allows those knees. The rule gives fighters another attacking option and removes the awkward question of when a fighter counts as grounded.
Ki MMA's post also made clear that soccer kicks, stomps and linear knee strikes are not part of the request.

It is not yet known whether the UFC would adopt the change if it is approved. Fans regularly ask for it.
Paddy Pimblett has previously argued for allowing both knees to the head of a grounded opponent and soccer kicks. He does not think stomps should return, but he believes a fighter should be able to kick an opponent who is sitting in guard.
On knees to the head of a downed opponent, Pimblett said he likes the changes that have already been made, but added: “it’s still a bit confusing”
