Conor Benn likely to box at 160lb next, with Eubank trilogy at 168 possible, says manager
Keith Connolly said a third fight with Chris Eubank Jr could come after Benn gets a win, following his stoppage defeat by Ryan Garcia on 12 September.
Conor Benn looks set to move up to 160lb for his next fight, and a third fight with Chris Eubank Jr at super middleweight could follow, his manager Keith Connolly said on The Last Stand with Brian Custer.
"The plan will be 160 pounds, it looks like," Connolly said. He added that "at some point, maybe after we get a win", the Eubank trilogy could take place at around 168lb, "so there's no excuses of weight. And I think that'll be the plan."
Benn is coming off a second-round stoppage defeat by Ryan Garcia on 12 September, his first world title challenge, at 147lb. Connolly said that one night does not settle anything: "So if you have one bad loss, it doesn't really define your career, and it doesn't mean you can't come back and be successful."
Benn and Eubank are 1-1. Eddie Hearn has said he is open to working with Eubank on a third fight: Hearn open to a Eubank link-up for Benn trilogy. Benn's trainer Tony Sims has also said he expects Benn to box on: Benn likely to return, says Sims.
