Denzel Bentley's WBO defence against Yoenli Hernandez goes to Warriors for the minimum $200k
Queensberry attended but did not bid, Dan Rafael reported. Warriors proposed US dates in December, and Rafael doubts the fight happens for a bid that low.
Yoenli Hernandez's own promoter has won the right to stage London's Denzel Bentley's next WBO middleweight title defence, after nobody else bid for it on Tuesday. Queensberry, which has promoted Bentley, was at the WBO offices but did not bid.
"Yoenli Hernandez promoter Warriors Boxing was the only bidder at the WBO offices for the Denzel Bentley mandatory vs. Hernandez. Bid the minimum of $200k," Dan Rafael wrote on X. "Queensberry showed up but didn't bid. Proposed dates were Dec. 12 or 19 in Phoenix, Orlando or Las Vegas, which [would] be the David Benavidez card in the works. Doubt it happens for that low of a bid."
The dates and venues are proposals and have not been confirmed. Of the $200,000, Bentley's share as champion would be $150,000 on a 75/25 split or $160,000 on 80/20, depending on the challenger's country of residence, before deductions and expenses.
The WBO ordered the purse bid after Bentley's and Hernandez's teams could not agree terms in their negotiating period. The Cuban-born Hernandez is based in the United States.
