Israel Adesanya says Volkanovski showed 'why he's the greatest' in Evloev finish at UFC 333

In a reaction video on his YouTube channel, Adesanya shouted "the f***ing best ever" as Volkanovski finished Movsar Evloev in round two.

Israel Adesanya hailed Alexander Volkanovski as "legendary" after watching him finish Movsar Evloev to keep the UFC featherweight title at UFC 333, in a reaction video posted on his YouTube channel.

Adesanya was filmed watching the main event at home and reacted as Volkanovski closed in on the finish. "Boom! Oh yeah, there it is. He tried again. He tried again. Let's go!" he shouted. "Let's go, Volk! Let's go, Volk! Yes! The f***ing best ever!" He then called for a high five: "Yeah, legend. It's legendary, all levels."

Speaking to the camera afterwards, Adesanya said: "I mean, he did it earlier than I thought, but it shows why he's the greatest. Alex Volkanovski, just in there, in his face. Took it to him with his own game, his own grappling. But the difference was the striking." He added: "Alex just cut him off. Didn't let him escape. Just hunted him down systematically till the finish. And it was a beautiful, chaotic finish in the pocket."

Volkanovski stopped Evloev at 4:54 of the second round in Abu Dhabi on Saturday 24 October. Adesanya said he had thought the fight would go to "like round 4".

In the same video he called the co-main event between Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili "a dogfight back and forth", and said he had flipped a coin to pick a winner and landed on Dvalishvili. Yan won on points.
