Eddie Hearn expects Shakur Stevenson to follow Devin Haney after Zuffa exit

Eddie Hearn expects Shakur Stevenson to take the same path as Devin Haney now that the four-division world champion has left Zuffa Boxing, the Matchroom promoter told iFL TV.

Stevenson announced his departure this week without having fought under Dana White's promotional banner. He confirmed in July that he had signed with Zuffa, but four months later he still had no bout scheduled, and he asked to be released from his contract. The request was approved.

He has since revealed that he has founded his own company, which will allow him to promote himself. Haney signed his deal with DAZN through his own outfit, Devin Haney Promotions, after turning down a move to work under White.

Hearn praised Haney for that decision. He said Haney had been set to sign with Zuffa and would have ended up in the same position as Stevenson had he done so, and that Haney now looks like a genius for following his instinct and going to DAZN instead. Hearn also said Zuffa's people do not know what they are doing, and warned fighters against handing their careers and legacies to people from outside boxing.

Stevenson has fought once in 2026, beating Teofimo Lopez by unanimous decision in January to win the WBO super-lightweight world title.
