Marco Verde moved to 7-0 after stopping previously unbeaten Guillermo Hernandez in the fifth round of their middleweight contest at Pechanga Arena in San Diego on Sunday 20 September. Verde, a 2024 Mexican Olympic silver medallist and southpaw from Mazatlan, floored Hernandez in the third round before the fight was waved off by the referee at 1:46 of round five because of swelling. Hernandez, nicknamed The Warrior, had arrived unbeaten at 7-0 with four stoppage wins and was making his American debut. No titles were at stake in the scheduled eight-round bout, part of a Premier Boxing Champions card that also featured Isaac Pitbull Cruz defending his WBC super-lightweight title against Nestor Bravo.
